Celebrating Ten Years of First Shift Justice Project!
This year marks a significant milestone for the First Shift Justice Project as we celebrate a decade of empowering family caregivers and advocating for their rights in the workplace. Founded by Keira McNett and Laura Brown in 2014, First Shift served its first client on October 22, 2014, and has since been a beacon of support for workers facing the dual challenges of employment and family caregiving.
Over the past ten years, we've helped thousands of individuals navigate the complexities of work-family conflicts, providing education, resources, and support in advocating for their rights when they need it most. Our client-centered approach has not only protected the jobs of pregnant and caregiving workers in the Washington Metro Area, but has also contributed to the cultivation of a cultural shift towards understanding and respecting the vital role of caregivers.
Thank you to everyone who has been part of our journey—our dedicated team, our clients, and our community partners. Together, we’ve made significant strides in creating workplaces that honor family commitments and promote the well-being of all workers.
Here’s to many more years of advocacy and change!
